A Mega Exposition on Science, Mathematics and Environment

The Mother of all activities at Zenith School is PANCHAM. A 4 day exposition on Science, Mathematics and Environment, held in 2003 and also in 2009 to bring out the best of scientific minds under one roof. Pancham offers a unique window of opportunity for the students to showcase their talents and creativity. Along with the various school participation across the State of Gujarat, Government Bodies, Air force and N.G.O1s were also invited to showcase their latest research in their respective fields. Prominent participation by I.S.R.0, B.A.R.C, I.P.R, P.R.L, E.R.D.A, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education and various Community Science Centre were appreciated by one and all.

HIGHLIGHTS OF PANCHAM-2009 (10th-13th December2, 009)

Day - 01 : 1o th December2 009

This Mega Event was inaugurated by Dr.K.Kasturirangan, Member, Planning Commission and former Chairman of I.S.R.0, Dr.Ramkrishnan, father of Noble Laureate Dr.Venkatraman and Dr.A.K.Singhvi, Outstanding Scientist and Dean of P.R.L. were the Guest of Honour. More than 300 projects on various subjects of Science and models made by the students of around 100 schools were kept open for the common people.

Day - 02: 11 th Dec ember, 2009

• Science Quiz Competition was conducted by ace Quiz Master Shri Narendra Deshmukh, Scientific Officer, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, in which more than 150 students of 30 Schools participated. Baroda High School, Alkapuri, Vadodara stood 1'' and Fatema Convent High School, Bhavnagar, was the Runner up.
• A Seminar on the topic: Fusion Energy Could Be the Future explained
  to the audience in a lucid manner on the subject by Mr.Ramasubramanian, Scientist, Institute of Plasma Research.
• Another Talk was delivered by Dr. R.D. Deshpande, Scientist, Physical Research Laboratory on the Topic: Global Climate Change & Hydrological Consequences.
• Inter School Singing Competition final round was held in which more than 15 Schools participated. Bhartiya Vidya Bhavans stood lst ,St. Kabir School stood 2nd and Baroda High School secured 3rd Position.

Day - 03: 12th December, 2009

• The Mathematics Quiz was conducted by esteemed Mathematician Mr.Vijay Lale, Scientific Officer, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education in which more than 100 Students of 30 Schools participated. St.Kabir School, Vadodara, secured 1 position and Navrachna School, Vadodara, were the Runner ups.
• A Seminar on the topic: Global Warming and Air Pollution was presented by Dr. S. Ramachandran Scientist, Physical Research Laboratory.
• A Talk was delivered by Mr. Saumil Majmudar, Edusports, on the Topic: Teach Physics through Sports.
• lnter School Dance Competition final round was held in which around 20 Schools participated, Baroda High School secured 1'' position, Convent of Jesus and MarySchool secured 2nd position and M.E.S. Primary School secured 3rd Position.

Day - 04: 13th December, 2009

• lnter School Drawing Competition was organized in which there were around 3000 participants. Winners were awarded into 5 different categories.
• The Mega Event ended by exceptional Cultural Show and Prize distribution ceremony. Air Commodore A.S. Bahal v.m. Air Officer Commanding, Vadodara and Mr.Swapnesh Kumar Malhotra, Head, Public Awareness Division, Department of Atomic Energy, were the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony of the event. They both gave away the prizes to the winning schools in Science projects and also for other competitions.
